My last truck had a short bed and this one has a long bed.
Pros:
When backing 5th wheel into really tight spaces I don't have to worry about contacting the cab of the truck. Like when I back it in my driveway here at home.
I can put more stuff in bed of long bed such as a adult tricycle in front of the hitch.
On rough roads I think the long bed rides aa little better. How much is everyones opinion. Most might not even notice the differance.
Cons:
As an everyday driver parking is a little tougher especially backing out of tight spaces. That extra 2 feet can make it a little difficult. Don't really take it to the local Wal-Mart for that reason.
Will it fit in my garage. NO Older home
Will it fit in my daughters garage NO New home
Costs more for spray in liner or bed liner
In my old truck I did not have a slider and never hit the cab. I did have someone watching just in case. I would pick the length that works for you and go with it. Weather you get a slider hitch is up to you.
