- drfifeExplorerNo slider, standard 6.5' bed, B&W Companion hitch, 32K+ miles, no problem.
- SDcampowneroperExplorerif you are concerned about how far you can turn, place a marker on the front of the 5er that becomes visible in your mirrors when you reach the danger point
- Bionic_ManExplorerMy first truck and 5er, I never used the slider.
My next truck and next 5er required it every time I backed it up into the garage.
It doesn't matter what other people's experience is. The only variable that really matters is how your trailer is set up. Some require a slider hitch, some don't. - Racine96ExplorerShort bed with an unused slider.

Totally agree with that point. However, every time I have to get a neighbor help me horse my 207# B&W slider base out I wish I had the 131# non slide in my SB. - bhallExplorerHave one with a 6 1/2' bed. Can't use it though as when it is in the maneuvering position, it makes the extended pin box hit my tailgate. So, just have to be extra careful while backing up. Thx Grumbines
- fly-swatterExplorerDon't have one and don't see the need for one , at least not with my setup.

- Wood_chipExplorer6'-6" bed with B&W patriot hitch. I have it set in the furthest most position toward the tail gate and do not even come close to hitting the cab.
- BB_TXNomadThe 5er front cap, pin box, hitch location, and truck make all the difference. Good friend with short bed and no slider knocked out his back window in a tight back in turn with his 5er.
