Should I make extra trip to winterize p-traps?

Well I will be a dissenter and say forget about the 'P' traps until you go for some other reason.

Water expands when it freezes but 'P' traps are open ended and the expanding water has room to expand while freezing. There is nothing to trap it while it expands.
