Look at it this way.  What can possibly be damaged?  A few P-Traps?  Probably only going to cost about $8 each kit to replace them, IF they break.  
Driving 200 miles round trip might cost you $45 in gas, and the time to make the drive. So figure that it might be less expensive to replace a broken P-trap than to go up there and add the pink stuff. And there is a chance that the p-trap will not break right away. It might not break at all. The top of the water on both sides would have to freeze solid and trap in the remaining water that would expand as it freezes. This would then try to push upward (no cracks) or outward (potential cracks).
Anyway it is a chance. You know that you will be out at least 4 hours of drive time and 10 - 20 gallons of gas (at $3 a gallon that is not free either).
Most sink traps are very easy to get to and repair. A shower trap will be a LOT more difficult though. Depending on the design, you might have a project to replace a leaking shower trap. . .
