Simple green or something else?

I need to clean up my fuel station pump of the gunk that has built up over the years so I can swap out the pump gears. Would simple green do the trick or is there another cleaner that would be better for the job?

  • I like 'Awesome"....get at Dollar Tree (Family Dollar, Dollar General, Walmart etc.)

It's a concentrate.....I dilute for general cleaning around house and use it full strength for cleaning up BBQ, greasy stuff, stove top vent screen etc.
  • Good thing I have plenty of brake cleaner! It should be labeled as all purpose cleaner!

    Thanks for the input!

Second that, just pick up some aerosol carb or brake cleaner. Be careful with carb cleaner as it eats up rubber.
  • How about using basic old 'parts cleaner'?
Any auto parts outfit like Auto Zone, etc.
