Ours is just like FTG's. Still able to get around the bed and access to the bathroom w/ the bed slide still in. You do NOT have to extend the bed slide if either you don't want to or don't have room on bed side (ie: neighbors site). On ours, w/ the bed slide out, we can fit a twin size air mattress at foot of bed for extra person if need be
