Slider hitch options for Ram Puck System

I am growing weary trying to figure out which hitch will work with my 2015 Ram 3500 / 6.5 bed with the Ram Puck System.

My heart is sold on the B&W Companion RVK3600 but figure I need to stay with a slider. However the RVK3600 does allow for 6 inches of rearward permanent adjustment. Is this enough to not need a slider ?????

B&W also makes a slider (RVK3400), but I would not be able to utilize the factory installed puck system.

I also like the ISR Series SuperGlide (model 2900) from PullRite. But would need to buy a new picture frame adapter (model 4439) to make this work in the pucks, but this causes me concern on the hitch being too tall.

I’m just not finding a lot of options for a 6.5ft bed with the Ram Puck System without using the Picture Frame 5th Wheel Hitch Mounting Adapter.

I would sure appreciate some guidance from the Ram guys that have already been down this road.
  • I have a 3500 with a slider that has never been used in two years. If you FW has kind of round front cap, you will be like me.
  • Let me know if you'll need a picture frame adapter. Might be able to help you with that.:)

The picture frame is working just fine with my truck 2014 3500 Megacab. I wanted to use my existing hitch when I bought the Ram. My hitch is the Reese slider. The only height issues is I can't lower the hitch enough to get level , and have adequate bedrail clearance.

The picture frame is not an issue in reality its only about an inch taller then standard bed rails . My issue is the fifth is just not tall enough for these new trucks. Picture frame adapters are not going to cause an issue , you are going to run out of bedrail clearance before anything trying to get your fifth wheel level .

There is a fair amount of fore/aft adjustment with the Companion and, with a 350, you would likely have plenty of room to adjust the hitch head to the rear for more clearance, and not have payload issues. Now, if your FW is skirting the limits on your truck's payload, you'd have to be =real= careful with this. I'd certainly call B&W and ask them about using the Companion with the picture frame adapter.

  • Call etrailer.com as they can be very helpful. They carry Reese, B&W, Curt and Demco hitches that fit the puck systems.

  • MeAgain just installed the B&W slider on a picture frame adapter. Sounds like it works well.

Many buy the RVK3600 and set in the rear position and have zero issues. You are barking up the right tree with the B&W, you just need to decide what one will be best for you!

  • There have been a few members say they are using the shorter Ram bed with no slider with good results. I'm sure the front cap of the FW is the determining factor.

You could call B&W, and ask them about the Ram with 3600. They do installs, so know what works. They can tell you where the pin center will be, on your truck, using the 3600 at various adjustments.
