- JIMNLINExplorer IIIMine sits in the trailer barn with the slides in while stored. If the kids/grandkids/GG kids come out and want to sleep in it then we move the slides out for them.
- Splashers3ExplorerIn - unless we're cleaning, tinkering, or loading up.
- TimayExplorerDo you get bugs, vermin and other pesky things when you have the slides out for use? The seals and metal the same thing...seals just point in the other direction whether in or out, the metal is the same as what is on the side of the trailer (mine, anyway), so I see no problem either in or out.
The only thing that gets more exposure are the topper fabrics...mine are ready for replacement, but that is after 13 years.
Tim - JustaguyExplorerI don't understand. Where we store our unit (covered)several 5th wheels are parked with all slides out. It would seem to me that it exposes all seals, metal and holes unnecessarily leaving it vulnerable to bugs, vermin and other things. I don't get it.
- john_betExplorer IIIt's winter now, so in. Come May they will be out till Oct. and it's winterized. It is parked at the house and plugged in.
- DutchmenSportExplorerOut during the summer, spring, fall. We use it at home, even when not at a campground. "IN" over the snowy months or not using it. Why expose it to the elements when you don't need to. Keeps snow off the slides. Now, if we decide to use it (driveway camp), in the winter, yes, we pull them out. When done, back in. The big thing is ..... to have the camper ready to go, go, go, in a heartbeat if the urge or need arises! Slides out with 2 feet of snow on them, and it will take a while to clean them off if we decide to just bug out. So keep them in over the winter, out over the summer.
- TimayExplorerI'm slide in/out agnostic...I have access to everything with the slides in, but I putter around in it quite a bit, so I run them out and leave them till I am done. I ran them out last week and they are still out (actually, just the main slide - the bedroom is still in). Not too worried about seals, etc., as they are built for the job...
Oh - it is 28° degrees and snowing here at the moment!
Tim - C_B_ExplorerIn a building plugged in with slides out.
C.B. - drfifeExplorerWe use our 5th wheel often.
We typically leave the curbside dinette slide retracted and the streetside kitchen and bedroom slides extended while stored at our house. It makes unpacking and packing our 5th wheel much easier. - fishingbob61ExplorerIn
