Sliding Bathroom door problem

I hate my sliding bathroom door that is 4" above the floor, and has no latch. I don't understand why they did not install a regular door with a handle, and lock. Is my only option to buy a new door, and cut it to fit the floor better, or can you order a door and jamb from Cedar Creek. I've looked at several rv's on line, and they all had real doors on the bath.
  • Four inches may not be required for one of those little "whizzer" fans, but if there is a Fantastic-type fan, a good space (maybe not all of 4 inches) would be required. Fantastic fans move a good amount of air.

  • I would think that a properly sized door would be available at one of the RV salvage type businesses.

  • It doesn't bother me, it bothers my wife, and there is no way a fan needs 4" under a door to draw air through.
Larry, I agree with you on the new door as the best solution so far.
  • It will be easier to figure out a latch than change the door. Even if you do change the door, you still need several inches at the bottom for air circulation - why does that bother you?

  • The easy fix would to buy a hollow core door and cut it to fix the size you want. I have done this many times. You have to figure how to do it but it is easy.

  • In many models of fifth-wheels, I wish that the manufacturer would have sliding doors rather than "regular" doors.
  • Most likely the reason that it is 4" off the floor is to allow air to be drawn thru the bathroom when you are using the bath ceiling fan. Also, a sliding door usually takes less space than a hinged door.
