Actually, trailers do have new car smell, but it shouldn't smell like gas.
I get the smell of gas in my hauler depending on how the wind is blowing. My fuel supply line to my tank runs through my hauler for about a 8" section. Of course that is covered by a metal box, but it isn't sealed.
