Snowbird tire shredding today

DW and I were driving our mini MH today on I-75S, from Macon to I-10. Wall to wall snowbirds. We saw 4 or 5 trailers pulled over with blowouts. One was a horse trailer, one was a smallish utility/ car hauler behind a MH, and two or maybe three fivers. One of the fivers had passed us a while before. We were going 65, he was probably a bit over 70. The man was out looking at the tire. His wife was a couple hundred yards ahead walking on the shoulder, with no exit ahead for miles. I didn't see her in time to stop and offer assistance. DW said maybe she was just walking instead of arguing about how she told him to buy tires this year. :)

I felt bad for all of them. Maxxis should be printing money, but I don't think they realize the opportunity they have.

    Yep.......

    DW "Honey should we get tires before this trip?"
    DH "Don't need no tires for this trip they only have 5000 miles on them"
    DW "Yeah I know but I heard if they are over 5 yrs. old they could be bad"
    DH "OH..something you read on that forum....HAW!"

    DH "OH shoot....dang tire blew"
    DW "I'm going for a walk....let me know when you get that spare on. Never mind that spare is older. I'll see if I can find a place we can get new tires"
    DH "Mumble, mumble, mumble..........."

    Oh yeah..this is going to be a good trip :S

    As you already know, Lot's of people refuse to by new tires no matter how old they are. Including plenty of forum members here. Sorry for those that had problems, no fun.
