So if the freezeris cold?

Haven't seen this one addressed.

My freezer is really cold, (never have had a problem with the ice cubes or anything else), and yet the refrigerator is marginal at best. I haven't put a temp probe in either unit to give you exact data, however real life experience says the refrigerator isn't up to spec. Drinks are only cool and foods don't store as long.

I tried the computer fan idea moving air in the refrigerator portion but really didn't see any benefit.

Any ideas? Thanks for any input...
  • Well I am down to 40F so far... will check tomorrow as I recently turned on fridge
  • Really need to measure temps to get a idea on how well your fridge is working.

    Freezer compartment should be -5*F---0*F

Food section........fins above drip tray should be 25*F-30*F (fins run roughly 10*F cooler than compartment)

Leaking door gaskets....close door on a bill and see if there is resistance when you try to pull it out
Drip tray drain tube....warm air can enter via drain hose

And .....cooling unit could have blockage which is restricting cool down of food section even though freezer is working.
  • Amazing.. I followed that link and watched the vid about the condensate tube..

Camping for a week recently the fridge temp never got below 47F.. I tried it from electric to gas and made no difference..( Thought maybe weak electrical element) My freezer had ice frost in it it was so cold in there...

I have no selector switch. It cools at a preset temp..

So out I went to the camper after I watched that video.. Well the condensate tube came directly out the cover. No P trap. Sure enough this may be my issue.

So I pulled out the drip tray and old condensate tube. I installed condensate rubber tube I have 5/8" I believe.

I primed the trap with some water, and I have the fridge running... So in several hrs I will take a temp reading and let you all know..

If I did not watch that vid and went to get my refridge looked at, I wonder if they would have told me to buy a new fridge, and tell me my current one was shot...

  • We had that problem on our old one and a dealer replaced a couple of parts and it began working just fine. We tried the fan and a mechanic at the campground tried all he knew and nothing worked so, off to the dealer. Wasn't a big deal and only a couple of fairly inexpensive parts, compared to the fridge not working and food spoiling.
  • Hi,

Add a fan to the interior of the fridge. Mine dropped the interior temperature quite nicely, and allowed me to run it on 4 instead of 5.
  • been there , I,d bet a cold one YOUR DOOR GASKET is leaking , put a bungee cord across the door to pull it just snug , wait four hrs watch the temp drop,. ours will freeze the milk .
