So, I'm not a huge fan of my Pullrite Superglide....

Not that I know of any other fifth wheel hitch as I was a "bumper pull" guy up until 6 months ago when we upgraded to the new 5er.

I get how the whole thing works and that you need to adjust the jam nut in the front of the thing to keep it from flopping around while driving "solo".

What I am wondering is just how tight you should put that thing. The "techs" at the shop who did the original install were very concerned about making sure that you don't go too tight, but tight enough to keep it from doing it's thing while driving without the trailer in haul.

I sure like the unit while towing though!

  • Had a Super Glide in our old set-up and really loved the hitch. I had NO complaints about any aspects of it. Tighten the jam-nut just snug enough to keep if from moving. It may need to be tightened periodically as the nylon bushing block wears. You've got a great hitch. FYI, my installer who has owned a hitch shop and been a Pullrite dealer for many years told me to use Slip-Plate dry graphite spray on the moving parts. It will not attract any dirt and grit. Good luck and safe travels.

When not in use - I have always used a short bungee from a rail to the sliding base - or the head.

Never had any "flopping" problems in 11 years..:C

BTW - I *AM* a fan of my PR SG.

Never had any other.......there may be a better hitch out there,
and certainly owners of other brands will say theirs is best.

But - firm believer if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
(Hasn't broke yet - works fine for me)
