Got the Ultimate Fifth Wheel hitch and love it. Shortbed and no slider needed.
I would think if you are hooked up over the axle or slightly forward of the axle as it should be, then what changes with the Andersen to eliminate a sliding hitch with a shortbed . Granted some of these newer fifth wheels don't require a slider with a shortbed , but a lot of fifth wheels still require a slider in certain conditions.
My turnover ball sits about 3" in front of axle. The Andersen ball 5" behind that and coupler adds 4" to the pinbox.
No it doesn't give you the 11-12 " of a slider. I would call it an inbetweener for short
beds. Andersen even clearly states in some cases one may need a slider.
If I got this right, then the fifth wheel pin is sitting about 2" forward of the axle ?
