Find it hard to believe that steel ball would "wear out "prematurely"...but yeah, very easily replaced with another drop in ball...no big deal, but haven't heard of any of them wearing out and people have been using drop in ball's for longer than they've been using the Andersen hitch we're discussing, for Goosenecks as well as hold downs for the Andersen and several other traditional 5er hitches....
