Gkainz the crush video is just a simple attempt to dispel the "its too light, it will never work" initial market resistance.
Andersen has sold approximately 10,000 of the original steel version (rail and gooseball versions combined) since introduction a couple of years ago. According to Andersen (and all the scanning and research Ive done across many RV and truck forums)there have been zero reported failures.
Also, if you analyze the paramid design, forces distribute to the base so side forces are handled as required. The most recent crush test on the Aluminum was to provide a sorta apples to apples compare to the original.
I own the Aluminum version and am very pleased with it.
