Andersen sells a chain kit. I think $70 I saw on their site.
Call it what you want it is a BALL HITCH, if safety chains are required for a ball hitch they are required for the Andersen. It isn't by any definition a 5th wheel hitch. Once that adapter is attached to the pin, it becomes a ball hitch.
I see it as a security blanket for those use to a ball hitch. An just like the B&W Companion, I don't like that the load rest on the bed of the truck not the frame. That said i would buy a B&W Patriot, but not an Anderson, just not my cup of tea!
It doesn't have to be mounted on a ball , you can get the one that mounts to four points on a standard bed rails, same with the B&W
