On the Andersen Hitch.......at times the ground could be uneven, and I am wondering if the 5th could drop down and contact the top of the sides of the truck bed? I believe a regular 5th wheel hitch would have some support to help alleviate this, but how would it work on the Andersen hitch....rotating on a hitch ball?
Thank you
Also makes one wonder if a blow over in wind might occur easier, as a normal 5th wheel hitch has limited left to right tilt. With the Anderson the trailer could get a bigger head start on blowing over before the trailer to bedside contact resisted the blow over condition. Even in a loss of control condition this might be an issue also.
Wonder why the traditional 5th wheel has been around for so many years if this is better.
I see it as just a solution for those that would have used a gooseneck adapter but had enough concern about the 5th wheel frame to consider this solution. For me if I had a situation of just a gooseball and wanted to tow a 5th wheel, I would go the B&W route.
We have been looking at some new RAM and some do not have the factory prep, so I would go the B&W Companion route. Like I said early in this thread I raise my trailer 3.5 inches because it was a pain to run the landing gear the extra distance to level.
