I'm confused now,
I thought we were discussing technology and gaining reports from actual users...hardly zealots.
Yes, we tease Cummins for his advocacy of B&W...but really, who can blame him...its a fantastic Made In America line of products... And the company is outstanding in their treatment of employees.
Andersen is another great American Company who produces their own products right here in the USA...they use Aluminum in their products...and the Andersen Ultimate Fifth wheel has proven itself strong and reliable.
Both of these companies are fantastic and I would have no qualms with either.
Fifth wheel rails (over bed or under bed) do provide a wider footprint directly to the trucks frame...and given the personal choice I would choose fifth wheel rails over the gooseneck set up. But there is no denying that the gooseneck to fifth wheel adapters are a viable option for pulling fivers.
Russ you mentioned the Patriot... I really like the Patriot 18k rail version. It's great hitch. I also appreciate the Reese dual jaw design...it gets a TON of flack on this forum but in the end you are right...the pivot point on the jaws means that the harder the king pin pulls on the jaws the tighter they close.
I think the locking cam design of the B&W is superior to Reese's pot metal lock and I think that's where the real difference comes to play.
Cummins, you have a great looking set up...congrats on the truck and the hitch...both of them could pass for art...I even like the Cowboy interior on your truck.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
