Sol era slide toppers

We will be taking delivery of a new fiver next month (2015 kz Durango 325RL). We are seriously thinking of having the Solera slide toppers installed. Not so much as a cost saving alternative, but because we wouldn't have the noise of the awnings flapping, water pooling, and no outside tubes to hold them. We have read good reviews, but we are wondering if anyone on this forum has them?

I kind of like the idea, but not fond of the fact that anything that's on the topper gets run in with the slide. Conceivably a branch could be rolled off a conventional slide topper, but could get run in with the slide and maybe damage the slide seal or the slide topper itself.

To avoid issues like that you'd have to clean the toppers off before bringing in the slide. IMO that kind of defeats part of the purpose of the toppers.

    Good point!
  • Not sure that these are manufactured anymore. They were pulled from the market because of installation issues in 2013 and an not aware they have came back. They seem like a good idea if the bug were worked out.

  • Wouldn't work for us...we have windows on each side of one of our slides.

But, I like the concept and can see 'some' advantages; also some disadvantages.
