Stabilizers stuck

Motor might be frozen-up? they always say use of you lose.

If fuses are good check the switch to see if 12v is passing thru to motor when you press it. if the back of the switch is accessable it probably has 6 wire connections the center two go to the motor, 1 is 12v and 2 is ground when switch is pushed . When switch is pushed in opposite direction those wires reverse 2 becomes 12v and 1 becomes ground.

Assuming the switch is OK & there is power to the motors, give them a tap with a hammer. Nothing likes to be hit.

I cant imagine it is the motor if it cant even be cranked manually. I would grab the feet and give them both a good pull down to make sure they didnt get rusted up when sitting. May want to look at all the threads on the screw drives to make sure those didnt get rusted as well. I dont think the motor turns when you hand crank but I could be mistaken.

So here is an update. We returned home and while DW was extending the landing gear, I pushed the stabilizer button and got the battery drain sound. So I knew the motor was getting power. After messing around with it yesterday, I finally broke down and removed the motor. As I pulled it off, it started leaking water. So I'm pretty sure it's shot. And once I removed the motor, the stabilizers worked just fine in manual mode. Can anyone suggest somewhere I can get an inexpensive replacement motor?

Motors ain't cheap (dollar wise that is), The cheap Lippert I have twisted off the key that drove the gear. Couldn't get it out of the shaft to replace it. I carry a 18V drill with socket or turn down by hand. Actually quicker than the painfully slow motor.

I think I will agree to go by Harbor Freight and get a reasonably cheap cordless drill (or better yet, impact wrench) and use that.

You still have motorized stabilizers, you just carry the motor in your hand and recharge the battery every other stop.

I bought a 7 year old trailer that had never been slept in and one of the rear stabilizer motors was shot (however it would manually crank). They are easy to replace as the motor and gearbox are a single unit. Problem is to get a motor I had to buy a motorization kit that included 2 motors, switches and wiring for a conversion. Now I have an extra unit for when the other side biffs.

Don't get an impact driver; get a cordless drill with an adjustable clutch. Those impact drivers have so much torque that you could run the risk of over-jacking the stabilizer.
