Many people do not know how to use a torque wrench properly. The proper way is to use the torque wrench as the last tightening tool. In other words use your regular wrench to snug up the nuts/bolts and then do the final tightening with the torque wrench. A lot of mechanics will use an air wrench to tighten and then use a torque wrench and if it clicks they think they have reached they proper torque when in fact the air wrench has already overtightened the nuts/bolts. So when using a torque wrench, make sure the nut/bolt is turning as you make the final tightening and then you will have the proper torque as you have set in the wrench.
