It seems to me the renting would be the best option. I have no idea on how all of this would work but renting a motorhome for the time you are here would sure make things easy especially on getting rid of it when you leave. ALot of folks do that here when they want to spend extended time out west. Rent everything, fly out to there to pick it up and turn it back in when they come back. The two weeks on the road driving out to where they want to be eats up there time they have available.
A motorhome is really nice and you can rent cars at places if you stay in one spot long enough to justify one.
Buying something here without a US address is probably a bag of worms too... Don't know how all of that works haha
