I put strong arm on my sierra 329re last month. used 3/8 self taping bolts and a impact gun. They went thru the frame like nothing I was done in 45 min installing all 4 at the front and 2 on the back. I have done this on my last 2 with the impact and self tapers
Hi Lee,
I by know means am suggesting you have to pre tap the holes. As I say in the video, the instructions mention this option to make installation of the bolts easier, and the bolts are not hardened, so you can see i the video where I snap one just tightening it with a hand ratchet. Also, I have seen instances when the threads cut by a self tapping bolt are trashed in the wink of an eye when the bolt head bottoms out before you can get your finger off the trigger of the impact wrench. Usually happens in thin material like the frames on these RV's because there are only a few threads before daylight.
Regards,
Steve.
