I just put a down payment on a Denali 293RKS. Final sale on 5th is pending the sale of my boat in 2 weeks. So, I haven't used it yet. Sometimes it's best to ask questions ahead of time rather than the wait and see attitude.
Most of the stuff going into the basement will be in large plastic containers with lids. The kind of plastic storage boxes you buy in Walmart and Home Depot.
Thanks for the input.
You won't have any problems with stuff shifting around if using totes. Stuff might move or settle inside the totes, depends upon how tight you pack it in.
Mine is not a 5er, but I do have a pass-through storage on the front. I have my small stuff in totes. Thinigs like the 2 Quick Shades, lawn chairs (in bags), outdoor rugs, stuff like that, all pile on top of each other. Granted the compartment is smaller than a 5er, but things don't move.
You can always build dividers in your basement for the larger items that can stack on top of each other, and are too big for totes. Smaller stuff can go in totes, and you can even stack totes on top of each other if you have the right size containers and enough clearance in the basement.
Same is true with items inside the camper, in cabinets, under the sink, even the medicine cabinet. If you can put all your small items into a container, and then, contain the container, you won't have things ever moving.
Another tip, pack it tight. Unlike a house, you simply cannot have one shelf dedicated to one specific item. Unfortunately, everything eventually get's crammed everywhere. There again, the tighter and more conjested, the better for travel. Once you get to your destination, yes...... (absolutely correct) .... you are forever digging through stuff to get that one-single-item you want at the moment! Pull it all out, put it all back for one item! It's just the way it is.
BUT! You'll have fun doing it! I guarantee it!
