Personally, I'd rather have the storage space rather than fireplace. A 1500 Watt heater puts out the same heat, is smaller and can be stored in a place much smaller than the fireplace.
we ahve two heat pumps and mostly run them and if the temp drops below 40 degF, we break out two small ceramic heaters. Run one on 1500 Watts and the other on 750 Watts. Keeps the trailer toasty below 30 degF and then we can run the furnace if needed.
