Storing A New Fifth Wheel?

I keep my TH in a pole barn type storage that keeps the sun and elements off it. Still looks like new. My seasonal unit sits outside and you can tell the difference in the roof and side's.

We are looking at having a Carolina Carport built to cover our new fifth wheel. (soon to be ours, that is). Our other fifth wheel sat out in the Georgia sun for 9 years and it not only wore the outside of the unit, it also faded the wallpaper inside.

all 3 of mine have set outside. Would prefer under cover but very expensive here.
RV's are meant to be outside. Yes, UV is not good for anything. I hate when snow and Ice build on top. I have a cover for the tires and A/C unit on top. the roof is rubber. Keep it in good shape and treat it and you should be ok for several years.

We said never again, so the last one went in totally enclosed storage and I never even had to wax it after 7 years. The difference was amazing. It really didn't change the retail when we sold it enough to offset the cost of the higher storage, but it definitely sold before other like kinds did.

If you have the room OP put up a 16x40 pole barn. IIRC mine cost 15k which also improves the property value.

Open Pole barn I guess is better than nothing?

I'm now scrambling to figure out where the heck I'm going to store my new Fiver! ??

If you =have= the pole barn already, it's much better than being in the open. For not a lot of cash, you can probably skirt it with shade screen material down part way, for more protection. Balance that with the cost of raising the entry of the storage unit (if possible).

We use ours about 5 months of the year. 3 months in Colorado, and about 2 months or more in Amarillo Tx. We have enclosed storage in our home town, which we pay for every 6 months. 55.00 per month. Due to it being out so much we apply a polymer at least once per year, but would like to get 2 to 3 coats per year. It's a 2011 model, and still looks like new. Texas sun is hard on everything. Needs protection also from hail. Thus we try to keep it in April and May, and leave for Colorado end of May.

I know you are trying to be a bit sarcastic. But our average use of about 35 nights per year. And that leaves 330 sitting not used.

I had same problem old bar too low, needed New Barn just for 5th wheel. Before and after Pics,had to remove tires and put on just rims amd take light bulbs out just to get in old barn!! 2 hrs just to put camper away!! New Barn 16' Tall 14' overhead door!! Sweet!!

Two thoughts: have you tried backing it into the barn? Sometimes the grade of the drive will let you put something a bit too tall, inside the door anyway. And generally, it's the air conditioner that's the tallest point - a low-profile AC might make the difference?

Our 10-yr-old Class C looks like new because it's been lucky enough to always live indoors.

Personally, I would get estimates on breaking out the floor and lowering it just to see what it would cost or do it yourself if you can.

We keep ours inside as well as my brother at his place and it is worlds difference when compared to my dads old camper when he kept his outside all the time. This is especially true in the Midwest as we have every type of weather here sometimes all within a single week.
