Struck a Deal on a New to Us Fifth Wheel!
Hello all. We love our current trailer which we bought new and has been rock solid, but our 5 year old son is growing like a weed and we have found that we are in need of more living and storage space. We have been looking at larger fivers for the past couple of years and really haven't been overly impressed with the quality of most that we have looked at, not to mention the huge price tags on them. They just did not seem to be as solid and well made as our four season Citation. General Coach, the company who made the high end Citation and Corsair fifth wheels in Oliver, BC unfortunately did not survive the recession and ceased operations in 2009 after many decades of producing great units.
We found a 2008 Corsair Excella Platinum 34.5 CKTS model in Edmonton, Alberta that appears to be very nice in the photos and a relative of ours in the area went and checked it out and confirmed it is in nice condition. We began negotiating on the unit and we struck a deal! These units had an MSRP of around $100k new so we felt we good a good deal on it. I fly there in a couple of weeks to check the unit out in person and confirm the deal if it is all OK. Unfortunately due to winter roads we will not be able to pick it up until Spring and the dealer is willing to store it for us. I can see a long wait until Spring now!
We are quite pumped about getting a great unit with the layout we wanted at a good price. We just need to sell our existing unit now, which is a bit nerve wracking but hopefully it will sell before we take delivery of the new one.
