Suggest Coffee Maker

Bought a new trailer and need a new coffee maker.
Thinking that one that mounts under a cabinet would save a little counter top space? With a center kitchen would I need to store the carafe while traveling? Present coffee maker gets put into the pantry with each move and just takes up space. Just a pain!
Any suggestions?

  • We have a small plug in Mr. Coffee that sits on a non skid shelf liner on the counter and a little piece of non skid sits between the pot and the warmer when traveling. No problems ever. When we are without hookups, we use a stovetop percolator. I also have a small thermal carafe to keep it warm. A Keurig is nice but take up a lot more room.
  • I love my KitchenAid thermal carafe pot. It keeps the coffee HOT for 10 hours so I can pour a cup anytime I am on the road without having to start the genny to run the microwave.
  • Only problem we have had with the "under counter" model is steam gets to the wood and starts to look bad and makes a mess. DW uses the mats that are used to hold things in place. If we need to move over bad roads she puts it in the sink with a towel around it but this rearly happens.
  • I've heard from those who bought them the same as what others have said. What we went with was one that made enough for us and didn't keep heating the pot (has a metal carafe that holds heat for a good 3 hours) by Mr. Coffee. Since we like blending our own coffee, the Kureg sealed thingies were a non-starter. I've lately seen single serving makers that take either Kureg containers OR grounds. Their not inexpensive, but when our 10 cup guy dies we'll probably get one.

B & D makes a nice under cabinet one that slides into a mounting bracket. By drilling two small holes in the plastic sides you can use a small bungee cord to hold the pot in place while traveling.
  • I looked into the under cabinet mount. After reading reviews, I decided against it.
  • We have found that high coffee makers do not last any longer than the average brand. Therefore we now have a Black & Decker counter top model that is left on the counter (on a thin rubber mat) most of the time, during travel. Sometimes DW will put the complete coffee maker in the sink, with a dish towel wrapped around it. It has never moved when on the counter & it sits on the rear counter of a rear kitchen.
