Well what I see is the possibility that the hitch locking mechanism is touching the block. Its possible the capture plate is not centered on the king pin and is slightly forward of where it should be. I went out and looked at mine and its centered around the king pin. The hole in the capture plate is bigger than the king pin.
I believe all the latching is done below the wedge. I have to go with wrong source for moving the trailer like a forlift with a catch for the ball only.
