Removal of SuperGlide Capture Plate from Morryde Pin Box

Has anyone remove the special capture plate that is used on the Morryde Pin box to work with the Superglide hitch? The reason I ask is we are moving from a short bed to a full bed with a new Pullrite Super Fifth Hitch that does not require it anymore. Looks like the four corner bolts are removed two in front and two in back and the capture plate drops off. The four bolts look like they screw into the larger rod, one on each side. When you remove the four external bolts does that rod become free or spin or what? Just wondering what to expect if I tackle it myself. Any info would be appreciated.
  • Mine was always welded on. Not sure why the dealer did that. They can be removed by grinding welds. I watched a friend remove the capture plate that was bolted on and he had zero problems. I think you will be fine.
  • There are also 4 plastic blocks against the metal tube rods. It take a 13/16 wrench, and vice grips to keep the rods from turning. Then push the rods to the center of the hitch. Remove the four plastic blocks held in place by one bolt each on the side of the Mor ryde....
  • Mine has 1 bolt(allen wrench needed) that holds it tight to the pin there are some shims on the sides
  • I put a pair of visegrips on the rod to keep it from turning.
Remove the 2 front bolts, 2 rear bolts and the plate drops off. Then remove the 4 white plastic bushings that are on the side of the hitch. 2 on each side. They allow the MorRyde hitch head to move more side to side. With the Pullrite, they limit the movement so it doesn't affect the hitch.
  • I can't answer your question, but Pullrite does have installation instructions that you can download.
