Initially I also hit the wear surfaces of the cam arm assembly. You really want to hit the bottom of the way tubes also.
That's the first I've heard of lubing the bottom of the tube. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
I also finished with a bit of sanding, degreaser and last some BrakeClean to hopefully remove all residue.
