If you are going to cheap out why bother!
Get this one for best all round protection and it has a 'Lifetime Warranty' which Progressive actually honors.

They make a portable model with same features IF you don't have an easy accessible spot to install hardwired one.
Also have an optional remote display for the hardwired version...hardwired with remote kit cheaper than portable.

Others have a limited warranty and disclaimers/exclusions.

should you decide to get a surge protector, I believe the Progressive Industries SSP-30 is hard to beat .... it is a reasonably priced, extremely well built unit that comes with a lifetime warranty

What makes the EMS one so great. I just purchased my first 5er and I got a TRC 30 amp portable surge guard am I good with this one or when it comes in should I send it back?

x4 get a multi-function surge protector. $260 and up. not the $90 special.
