Although I do not have your specific issue, I had a problem with my rig's main door. It was held open by the plastic "T" like in many rigs, which I really do not care for. To fix it I went to Lowe's and purchased a $4 magnetic door stop so now when I fully open the main door, the magnet holds it open.
Something like this might work in your case and the good part is that it also prevents door damage to the wall and other parts.
