Switching to LED lighting

We would like to switch all the lights out on our Raptor and wondering if anyone had any suggestions as which ones to go with and how hard it is to do?
  • I got most of mine from ebay, a couple I sourced from Derwud's favorite RV dealer, Benlo, they have a real nice display that you can sample the type of light each puts off and a good selection. I think I paid about $5.00 for one or two bulbs. For the under counter puck style I used the panels type. I only changed out the puck lights and two overhead lights we use all the time. All the others are used intermittently so didn't bother with them. Might replace the bathroom light though, lots of good reading done in there ;).
  • If you want REALLY cheap bulbs, try Alibaba.com. Do a search for W5W Bulb Lamp 24SMD LED Warm White. I paid $1.49 per bulb, and got them direct from China in 3 weeks with free shipping. They work well!
  • Did a full LED conversion 3 years ago and used both Ebay and LEDs purchased from USA retailers. Installed mostly panel LEDs but a few receptacles required bulb style LEDs.

Whether purchased from Ebay or USA source, all LEDs were made in China and all have performed well with no failures over 3 years of use. One of my favorite mods, felt like I added an extra battery with the incredibly little current draw these LEDs require compared to their incandescent counterparts.
  • Definitely go with panels rather than "bulbs" and definitely "warm white". Bright white is actually blue and not very bright. eBay is the place to get them, too.

I'm still amazed at what some will pay for LED's from a US distributor of China made LED. I use G4 base bulbs so in comparing to the above link and Ebay I can buy 10 bulbs for $3 more than one bulb in the above link.:S
OP, go to Ebay and buy what you need and I like the warm white over the bright white of indoor use. Outside I like the bright white .
