Well I have never seen a study done on gate up/gate down/louvered gate with 5er in tow so they just might be saving.
Mythbusters did their test with an empty truck, do you not think having that 7' tall 8' wide box sitting over the TV bed make a slight difference?
Clearance, my 1st fiver cleared the back bumper by about 6", bumper never hit it!
