We had a Mastercraft electric smoker and were not very happy with it after a while. The main problem with it was that it was so well insulated that the burner didn't come on often enough to keep the chips burning for good smoke. We had to jury-rig an add-on smoker for it to work very well.
If it was sitting in the sun in the summer the interior temperature would easily reach 140°. More than that if the outside temps were fairly high. We sold it and bought a propane smoker. Great smoke and easier to modulate the temperature than a charcoal/wood smoker. Keeping it within 5° of 230° is a snap.
