Taller Mattress On Happijac Bunks?

I just bought a used Desert Fox with Happijac bunks and would like to put a real mattress on the bottom bed, which will be 4" taller than the stock mattress. I'd appreciate any info from those who have done the same as far as modifying the contact point where the bottom bed frame meets the upper bed frame to lift it.

I've thought of some Rube Goldberg methods but I'm hoping someone has a more elegant solution. :)
  • Thanks! I don't have a manual for the system and didn't realize the brackets were adjustable.
  • Not exactly sure what you are asking. We put a 9" thick mattress on the bottom bed of ours and an 8" one on the top. We didn't have to adjust anything. To change the position of the stops for the top bunk the metal block stops inside the chain rails can be moved (2 screws), but there are only a couple of positions lower on our setup. The L brackets that hold the platforms to the chain driven carrier can be flipped over to change things around, too.
