Teflon plate

I have an old Teflon plate that I would like to use with a borrowed fifth wheel hitch. Never having used one I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to bring it "back to life". It appears to be drier and less flexible than I think one of these things should be. The alternative is to simply grease the landing plate but I thought I might give this thing a try.

I prefer to use Koolaid instead....but it HAS to be Cherry Koolaid! :W
  • Honestly, I was too lazy to check on price. Didn't realize they were so inexpensive, which makes the decision much easier now.

I was thinking about wiping it down with some Krol oil.

Still oily residue on the plate and pin, the $10 for the plate won't break me.

It'll probably work for a while, though it's probably brittle. Just don't bend it and it should be fine. They're cheap enough that you should just grab a new one when convenient and slap it on. For that matter, running dry for a couple days isn't likely to hurt anything, if both faces are clean to begin with.
