Yup, this ^^^^I'd feel safer on the same road with a much overloaded but attentive, experienced driver, giving 100 percent to his driving/towing, than an inexperienced driver, towing under all ratings, but talking/texting, while driving.

Yep I do tow over GVWR, but within stated axle ratings by about 500#, and because my TV came from the factory with Camper Package and Optional higher capacity tires about 1,300# under tire capacity.
DW sleeps while I drive, as I only do that one thing, drive and pay attention, not because the package is a handful, far from it is dream to drive, I just won't get involved in a long conversation.
Safety has more to do with driver attentiveness and setup than being over that magic GVWR, within TIRES and axle ratings is far more important.
