I got into the travel side of RV'ing only for a short time to realize it wasn't for us... That turned out to be alot of work just to get from point A to point B. It was becoming an expensive endeavor as well as every thing starts taking on the BIGGER IS BETTER... We would have to make room for almost everything we owned to go with us... I was wore down to a frazzle and really didn't enjoy the destination all that much for the first couple of days...
My fifth wheel sits in the back yard now up against the woods line and is our home get-away place...
We were avid TENT CAMPERS in the 50s and up to the 90s so I imagine that had alot to do with us not liking the long road trips...
We continue to enjoy our off-road style of camping with our very modern OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer. Almost all of our RV CAMPING is now done within a 100 miles or so from here in Northern Neck Virginia...
We reverted back to driving our very nice truck for the one or two must do family road roads and rent a nice chalet for the week with all the money we saved...
I'm starting to think an up-grade for us would be a truck camper to give us better on-site security if I can get a handle on how to deal with the supplies and things we love to have with us now...
Presently I can carry some serious supplies and item with the 5X8 front deck on the camper and the truck bed and back seat areas of the truck.
All working good for us at any rate...
We continue to be happy campers haha...
