Thinking of changing my Norcold N1095 to a residential unit

The cooling system on my Norcold N1095 has crapped out. I am thinking of changing to a residential refrigerator. With all of our RVing we have electric. Has anyone else done this. What residential refrigerator did you use to replace the N1095. Any problems getting the new unit in your Trailer?

  • Fridge to replace a 2 door RV fridge are. Haier sold at Lowes. Whirlpool sold at Menard's. These fridges are generally in stock at both stores. There are other models but are not usually in stock.
There are other models. But not normally in stock.
If you are doing a search. Look for counter depth fridges. Sometimes called apartment sized fridges.

drfife Now you have done it. The wife loves that refrigerator, the 197.

We dry camp a lot so how many batteries do you have and how long can you camp while off the 120V grid before you need to recharge them?

    Thanks

We don't do a lot of dry camping.

Based on amp draw I could go a couple of days on my pair of Group 27 12V deep cycle batteries before needing to recharge.

It is amazing how little it draws. Turn off ice maker and put it in energy saver mode for least electric consumption.

    Thanks that sounds great.
  • Your 1095 is smaller than the 1200 series that the Samsung RF197 fits into without cabinet modifications. I just replaced our Norcold 1210 in our 5 month old Lifestyle fifth wheel. I couldn't get that worthless excuse of a fridge out of the RV soon enough. I will complete the final details of the Samsung this week.
FYI, for others interested, HD has the Samsung on sale now for less than $1000. We ordered it and had it within 10 days. It was delivered to the store and we took the RV to the store and they placed it into the RV. Can't wait till first trip with it.
Good luck. I'm sure you will find a wealth of info here for refrigerators that will fit exactly into the space of your 1095 - unless you are able to expand the area. Phillip

  • The Samsung 197 is the residential refrigerator commonly installed in RV's. Available at Lowes and Home Depot for around $1200.

We have a 2000W MSW invererter to power it from the batteries while off the 120V grid.
