LOL, I'd have to agree. I've got a new set of springs, bolts and shackles in my garage awaiting my attention this weekend. It's a task that I've become fairly efficient at performing over the years but it still takes me all day to tackle it myself. Oh and I'm a greasy, grimy mess when the jobs done so there's that too??

I didn't really need to quote you so sorry about that. It was a good point. I got specific so that the OP would know, if they didn't already, that because Excels were heavy trailers with 33" wheelbases that owner's spring choices are limited. In fact, if their axles are Dexter (most likely), the specific part that will fit and offer the most longevity is Dexter # 072-079-00. There are some generic springs out there in the same size but I don't recommend them having used them on my first Excel. They flatten and look scary way too soon.

I bet a phone call could get about any rating and size needed.

That's especially good advice if the OP has 3.5k springs on his Excel. Because Excel calls for a 25-25.5" spring, going up a rating means moving to a 4K Dexter spring or a generic equivalent in the exact same size - that's about it. I haven't been able to find any springs above 4K that are compatible with an Excel's wheelbase.

I went up a rating when mine flattened out the first time.
Rides better than ever, no issues.

I have a heavier Excel that consumes springs too but at a lower rate. Before installating a fourth set of the same springs, you may want to make sure you're using 4K, American made springs. If your axles are Dexter (most likely), I recommend using Dexter brand springs as opposed to generic. I've seen them side by side and there's no comparison.

Thanks for your advice. To answer one question, the springs just flattened out. I'm using the same RV dealer for these, I'm not sure they recognized that the springs they were replacing were replacements.
