Times they are a changing

I used to have a 2013 Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel that I used to pull my boat
Sold the boat and traded in the oil burner on a new Ram 1500 Hemi
Yesterday I picked my Toy Hauler that weighs about the same as the boat and hauled it over the mountain from San Diego to my place in the desert
The Ram 1500 pulled the load just as well as the 2500 diesel did and got better mileage doing it
I don't want to start riot but I think today's 1/2 tons are as good or better than yesterday's 3/4 tons

  • Is that a Weekend Warrior Superlite? I would be interested to know if the load on the truck is under the GVWR and rear GAWR.

    A 2013 RAM 2500 Diesel is "yesterday"?

I am proud to be of the "Old School" crowd with my 2012 3500!

Get yourself a historic license plate :D
I just saying the new 1500's can pull like anything else now

    Nice rig.
But, you need a blue stripe or design on the side of the truck to pull them together. :)

Blue stripes on the truck would look good. I matched the stripes on my motorhome to the car trailer for the same reason.
  • The 1500's have plenty of power but lack the payload for many toy hauler hitch weights if you also load the truck up with supplies or people. Check your actual loaded tongue weight and receiver capacity - You may be in for a surprise. I went the other direction from a F250 to a 5500. The 5500 can haul a car on the deck and still have enough axle capacity to drag along the largest bumper pull toy hauler. Right now I carry 2 tons on the deck while towing 4 tons, but I have plans to be carrying a ton more in the next few years.

My buggy built off a VW Bus:

  • I agree. Mentioned the same thing about today's "1500's" vs yesterday's "2500's" in a post some time back.
  • Thanks guys
Lol at the blue stripe on the truck :D

I bought it to haul this buggy, might have to paint the truck blue :D

  • Nice rig.

Yes they are, just keep an eye on the TW/payload and you should be alright. Nice rig!
