Tire Covers and X-Chocks

Does anyone use X-Chocks with their Tire Covers on when on an extended stay someplace? I want to use my X-Chocks when in Florida next winter for the stability but I've never used them with the covers on the tires. I've only used one or the other. I use the covers when parked at my home and the X-chocks when camping for a few days. Protecting the tires from the damaging sun is important but so is the stability I get from the X-Chocks. Will I ruin the covers using the X-Chocks?
  • I guess I never thought about double covers. I'll have to look to see if I can find a set that fits my wheels. If not, I'll put the X-Chocks on after I put the covers on. Like valhalla said..They are expendable. Thanks for your input everyone!
  • I would put your chocks on first and then the tire covers.

Here is ours with RotoChocks installed.

  • covers are totally useless. Tires are already UV stable, and should be replaced no later than 7 years, personally, 5 years is my limit.

X-Chocks add a bit of stabilization when parked.

Never done this, but do any of the double-tire covers fit your vehicle? Unless there is some sort of internal strapping of which I am unaware, I would think you could put the x-chock in place and the place a double cover over both wheels without inhibiting the function at all.

That was my first thought, too.

  • Put the covers on before unhooking, then put the X-chocks. That's what we did w/ the Roto-Chocks
  • We do this...I figure the covers are expendable as they only last a couple years anyway....though other than the imprint of the pads, haven't seen any major issues.
