Tire Guru Question

Just about to order new tires for the trailer. The spec sheet says 6.5" rims, I have 6". The tire size is the same as the tires I am replacing ST235/80-16s.

Any issues?

    Why STs?
    Why not LTs?

$600 as opposed to $1200 and I'm selling the trailer next year. Need new tires for safety inspection.

I have a novel idea--- send an email to the tire mfg and ask them rather than advise from people you don't know.
  • Now we know the real reason for ST tire failures ... Too narrow rims!

I hope they are Sailun S637's. Chris

Nope. Don't have 110 PSI rims.
  • Same as mine, too. I have GoodYear G614s and supposedly they recommend a minimum 6.5" rim. I have 6" rims and they're doing just fine.

  • You might see a little more wear in the center of the tread with the narrower rims. That probably doesn't matter as trailer tires almost always age out before they wear out.
