Tire help
Is there anything wrong with going overboard on load range rating? My trailer came with load range d tires. I had a blowout within 1 year of just being a weekend warrior. Thinking of going to a load range F.

- Trailer is 12,000 GVWR.
- Lots of opinions on over tiring your trailer! IMO...it is unwise to way over tire! Going up one load range is normally okay, but I then recommend running that tire at full sidewall pressure, to gain any advantage. If you have been running Ds at 65 psi, and keeping within the tire wt rating, I would not go to F rated, and not run max pressure. If you feel the need for more wt capacity, I'd go to an E-rated tire, and run the full 80 psi. If your wheels have Ds from the factory, the wheels are likely rated to 80 psi. The F rated tires likely rated to 95 psi may not work with your wheels at full tire pressure. Sure you could run the Fs at 80 psi, but to what advantage, and may make them run hotter.
Jerry - If you have 6 lug wheels you can put on 16” and use LT Es 3042 lbs. BTDT on 3 of my rvs and that was the end of the ST tire problems plus you’ll have tires built to much higher passenger carrying specs. Craig

If your asking what your rim is rated for... pull it off and check the inside of the wheel ( opposite side of air valve)... it will be stamped..

I plan on buying rims rated for PSI on tires I am buying.
I quoted wrong one earlier talking about PSI for tires.
