You have two things at work in a tire- pressure and heat. Running ten pounds lower than max will have a dramatic affect on the operating temp of the tire- especially when ambient air and road temps are high.
In my experience- Tires come apart for two reasons. They hit a road hazard that causes a catastrophic failure or they fail due to heat. A nail, while certainly a road hazard, does not cause the tire to fail. It is the loss of air and subsequent increase in temp that causes the big blowout.
Keep your tires at max cold psi and you will have fewer tire failures and your tires will last longer because they will run cooler.
I love this thread as it is very informational. However, I would add one comment to Fly-boy's response. Speed - increasing speed increases heat. Over or under the recommended pressures is asking for problems.

As for weight of the trailer and the psi- I would of course bow to Goodyear. However, if you are not burning up the center of the tires no reason not to run them at max psi.
