Tire pressure monitor

I am considering buying a tire monitoring system for my fifth wheel. I have looked at several of the systems. Just wondering if I could get some input from those of you who have a system. Is a signal booster necessary?

  • I have had tiretraker for several years on travel trailer and now on 5th wheel. I chose them because their sensors are the smallest and lightest of any. I did not go to metal valve stems and have had no problems. I did buy signal booster with the system originally and installed it in front compartment of trailers. Has been excellent and they have excellent customer service should you have any questions.
  • We have Doran little hard to program but great plus customer service is great
  • Just make sure the system you get either has internal sensors or if it uses external screw-on sensors AND you put them on metal valve stems. Don't try running external sensors on rubber valve stems - well you can try but you may not be happy with the results.
  • I have the TST system too, but considering the time lag between losing a signal and being notified of same I would look hard at some of the other systems. It can take up to an hour. I don't use a repeater and have had good luck so far since I moved the location of the monitor to a higher point in the cab.
  • Another TST 507 user. Been working fine for 3 years now. Sensor batteries replaced after 2 years. Found a cracked O-Ring on one that seals the battery. Contacted TST and they sent 8 replacements plus a couple of seals for the valve stem, no charge.
  • I have the TST 507 system, and it works just fine without a booster.

Before that I had an n-Vision system. It needed a booster, and also gave a lot of false alarms.
