Tire Wear

Friend has a Montana fifth wheel with some unusual tire wear . The outside edge on one tire on each axle has worn almost down to the cord. The two worn tires are on opposite sides from one another. The other two tires on opposite sides from each other look nearly new. You would think the wear would be on the same axle or on the same side with an alignment problem. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this. The tires are the Goodyear Marathons
  • Had a smilar issue on our Newmar Cypress, check the spring hangers for oblong wear, look up Wet bolt fix, a common issue.
  • Cheap Chinese ST tires, and bend axles or spindles are the prime suspects. He needs to install some quality LT tires then go find a commercial trailer shop that can do axle alignments and have it gone through. OH and don't forget the crappy plastic bushing used on the spring eyes. Replace those with real bronze bushings while he is at it.
